What happens if the voltage exceeding the measurable range is applied to I/O channel?

Question

If the voltage exceeding the measurable range(specification: 6.5V from -1.5V) is applied to I/O channel, the limiter fail is detected.
Is the pin-electronics protection circuit activated in this case?

Answer

Limiter fail detection circuit does not have pin-electronics protection.
If there is a possibility that the voltage exceeding the measurable range is applied to I/O channel, please take measures by setting the termination resistor for protecting I/O channel from the voltage exceeding the measurable range.
